DHS Launches Minnesota Medicaid EHR Incentive Program

Date: 25-10-2012

[MMA News Now, Oct. 25, 2012] The Minnesota Department of Human Services has launched the Minnesota Electronic Health Record Incentive Program (MEIP) and is now accepting applications.

MEIP provides incentive payments to health care professionals and hospitals that meet specific eligibility requirements when they adopt, implement, upgrade and meaningfully use certified EHR technology. Invitations to enroll and attest in the MEIP were sent to Eligible Professionals (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) that registered on the CMS EHR registration website.

The MEIP program is based on the 2009 Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, a federal law that authorized Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive payments. Minnesota is among the last states to launch its Medicaid EHR incentive program.

For more information on MEIP eligibility, preparation and reference materials, visit the MEIP site.
