Date: 06-09-2012

[MMA News Now, Sept. 6, 2012] The MMA’s Quality Committee has selected member Therese Zink, M.D. to receive a special Contribution to Quality Healthcare in Minnesota Award from the Minnesota Medical Association Foundation.
The Minnesota Academy of Family Physicians (MAFP) nominated Zink for the award based on her leadership and direction in family medicine research and quality improvement. The MAFP especially called out her work on “Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Guidelines for Primary Care Practices.”
“Because of your work physicians are more confident in treatment of CKD, more willing to conduct ongoing CKD screening using guidelines and protocol, and are more aggressive in their evaluation and medication management for patients with the disease,” wrote Robert Meiches, M.D. and MMA CEO, and Beth Baker, M.D., president of the MMA Foundation, in a letter to Dr. Zink.
