Supreme Court to Hear ACA on March 26

Date: 22-03-2012

[MMA News Now, March 22, 2012] This Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear six hours of arguments regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The main point of contention is regarding the “individual mandate” aspect of the law that requires all Americans to obtain health care insurance or face financial penalty.

“The MMA supports an individual mandate as the most effective way of holding all individuals responsible for participating in the health care system,” said Janet Silversmith, MMA director of health policy. “If the individual mandate does not survive this challenge, we will be left once again with incremental tweaks instead of meaningful reform.”
