Communicating with Congress—AMA Webinar

Communicating with Congress—AMA Webinar
[MMA News Now, February 2, 2012] Find out how to influence lawmakers on important issues such as the repeal of Medicare’s flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula by taking part in “Communicating with Congress: How to be an Effective Citizen Advocate,” an AMA webinar at 7 p.m. CST, Tuesday, February 7.

The free hour-long webinar, sponsored by the AMA's VIP grassroots program, will feature AMA staff along with Brad Fitch of the Congressional Management Foundation. They will discuss how congressional offices process and respond to all the communications they receive, and what specifically influences their thinking.

You’ll learn:

• What congressional staff believe are the most effective communication tactics for influencing members of Congress.
• The differences between different forms of grassroots communications (email, mail, phone calls, in-person visits, etc.).
• How to conduct effective in-person meetings, influence legislators at town hall meetings, and other effective advocacy techniques that you can apply in your state and Congressional district.
• Where the AMA stands with current efforts to repeal the SGR formula once and for all, and how physicians can best use their relationships with members of Congress to amplify the repeal message.

Register online today.
