State drug review board seeks physician members
[MMA News Now, July 29, 2010] The Minnesota Medicaid Drug Utilization Review (DUR) board is currently seeking to add two additional physician-members.
Board members are appointed by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Commissioner to three year terms. The board advises the MDH commissioner on the implementation of “predetermined criteria and practice parameters” for drug prescription, the development of education interventions for physicians, pharmacists, and patients, and the distribution of educational information about the DUR to physicians and pharmacists.
New members would begin serving in Fall 2010. The DUR board meets four times annually, typically on the second Wednesday of a month. A $100 honorarium is paid for each meeting attended, and gas mileage traveling to and from board meetings is also reimbursed.
Interested physicians should contact Mary Beth Reinke, Pharm.D., the DUR coordinator. She can be reached by phone at 651-215-2505 or by email at Mary.Beth.Reinke@state.mn.us.
