MINNEAPOLIS, April 26, 2010 - Timothy J. Crimmins, M.D., Vice President and Director of Health, Safety and Environment at General Mills has been elected Chairman of the Board of the Hennepin Health Foundation. The charitable foundation supports Hennepin County Medical Center.

“Dr. Crimmins is a strong community leader who knows HCMC very well,” said Emily Fuerste, Vice President of Philanthropy at Hennepin County Medical Center. “We are thrilled to have someone of his caliber and character follow Judy Shank, M.D. as our HHF Board Chairperson.”

Crimmins is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and prior to joining General Mills he practiced Emergency Medicine at HCMC where he was also Deputy Medical Director and an assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He is a past Chairman of the Board of the Minnesota Medical Association, and was awarded the association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award in 2005. Over the last decade he has helped General Mills to be a nationally known leader in health and safety. General Mills has been recognized by Fortune as one of the Top 100 Companies to work for and by the National Business Group on Health as a “Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles.”

Hennepin Health Foundation supports the mission and goals of Hennepin County Medical Center and provides ways for individuals and organizations to support the programs and services that make it one of the nation’s premier public teaching hospitals.
