Ridgeview Medical Center called top performer

MINNEAPOLIS, October 8, 2009 - The most recent data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has been added to a Commonwealth Fund website that tracks the performance of health care providers on various quality measures.

According to WhyNotTheBest.org, Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia was the only Minnesota hospital that ranked in the top 1 percent of U.S. hospitals on a composite measure of hospital performance.

The site includes performance reports on 25 Hospital Quality Alliance measures, which gauge how often hospitals delivered recommended care processes for conditions including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care improvement.

In addition, updated performance reports have been added for the 10 measures from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS).

WhyNotTheBest.org was created and is maintained by The Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation working toward a high performance health system. It is a free resource for health care professionals interested in tracking performance on various measures of health care quality.
