Medicare pay must change for reform to work

National health care reform plans could undercut Minnesota’s statewide efforts, if Congress expands Medicare’s current payment methods, according to a meeting of local health care leaders including MMA President Noel Peterson, M.D.

The MMA is seeking physicians interested in serving on a health care reform workgroup charged with the development of an essential benefit set.

The AMA Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to support H.R. 3200, the reform bill released by the House of Representatives this week, according to an AMA representative.
