Minnesota delegation’s health care positions

MINNEAPOLIS, June 30, 2009 - Members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation hold a variety of views on whether the federal government should include a public plan option as part of health care reform.

The publication MinnPost.com recently did a roundup of where the members of Minnesota’s delegation stand on this and other health care reform issues.

The MMA has not taken a position on the public plan option. The MMA’s reform report, Physicians Plan for a Health Minnesota, advocated for a combined private-public insurance market with private insurers offering guaranteed coverage to all Minnesotans for an essential set of benefits and the government subsidizing health care coverage for those unable to afford it.

With members of Congress back in their districts for the July 4 recess, now is a good time to contact your lawmakers and tell them what you think about the Obama administration’s proposals for health care reform.

You can use the MMA’s automated system to identify and contact your lawmakers.
