MINNEAPOLIS, May 28, 2009 - The MMA has been asked to appoint a physician to serve on a Health Care Home Payment Methodology Steering Committee. .
This group will provide strategic direction on the development of the payment methodology for health care homes, which are a component of the 2008 Health Care Reform Act.
The steering committee will meet monthly from June to December and periodically in 2010.
Physicians interested in serving on the committee should submit their name and a statement of interest and expertise to Janet Silversmith, MMA director of health policy,
JSilversmith@mnmed.org.
The state is also forming the following work groups to develop recommendations on these topics related to health care reform:
• Clinic Processes for Health Care Home Payment Work Group (identification and enrollment of eligible patients, coding and billing),
• Patient Risk Stratification and Payment Rates Work Group (defining eligible patient groups, defining the work of care coordination, non-medical complexity), and
• Consumer/Patient Payment Considerations Work Group (out-of-pocket exposure, affordability, partnerships).
