Webinar to Review Governance Changes Scheduled for Sept. 5
Date: 30-08-2012 [MMA News Now, Aug. 30, 2010] Proposed governance changes to the MMA’s Board of Trustees and House of Delegates will be the focus of a webinar scheduled for Sept. 5 at 7 a.m.
These changes have been proposed in an effort to make MMA more responsive to members’ needs and increase members’ ability to provide input on MMA’s public policy decisions.
The proposed changes include: • reducing the board’s size from 33 to 12 to 14 members to ease decision making; • changing the membership of the board from solely geography-based to competency-based with a sensitivity to the location of various members; • replacing the House of Delegates with multiple Policy Council Forums to increase opportunities for member input; • gaining a better understanding of member concerns by holding multiple “listening” sessions throughout the state; and • giving all MMA members the opportunity to vote in elections.
The MMA will discuss the changes at the upcoming Annual Meeting, Sept. 14 and 15.
