Physicians have until Sept. 10 to review and dispute data submitted by manufacturers and group purchasing organizations prior to public posting of the data on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Open Payments website
Open Payments (formerly known as the Physicians Sunshine Act) is a national disclosure program that promotes transparency by publishing the financial relationships between the medical industry and, physicians and hospitals on a publicly accessible website.
The public website, which debuts Sept. 30, will be organized and designed to increase access to and knowledge about these relationships and to provide information to enable consumers to make informed decisions.
