In an effort to raise awareness among physicians about effective prediabetes management, the MMA and the Twin Cities Medical Society will co-host a free webinar on June 25 from noon to 1 p.m.
Prediabetes is a health condition characterized by higher than normal blood glucose levels, but levels not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Prediabetes increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
As part of the webinar, endocrinologist Luke Benedict, M.D., will discuss evaluation and diagnosis of prediabetes. Gretchen Taylor, M.P.H., R.D. will share the scope of the problem in Minnesota, and Sheryl Grover of the Twin Cities YMCA will present an evidence-based program available to patients, and funded by CMS. This event is sponsored by the American Medical Association. The American Diabetes Association also supports this event.
