Policy Discussions Set for Annual Conference

[MMA News Now, June 12, 2014] Policy minded physicians will have an opportunity to take part in three group discussions that will help set the future direction of MMA at this year’s Annual Conference, “Thriving in Change: Meeting the Challenges of Modern Medicine,” Sept. 19-20 at Madden’s on Gull Lake in Brainerd.

The discussions will include:

•    The Expansion of Telehealth. This session will take a look at licensing and regulating those providing services. It will also review liability, technical standards and other key points.
•    The Future of the Health Care Workforce. This will explore ensuring patient access, competency, quality, team-based care, how the new APRN law affects the workforce and other key points.
•    Open Issues Forum. This session will cover topics requested by members, component medical societies and specialty organizations.

Along with these policy discussions, the Annual Conference will include: national speakers; CME programming in leadership, well-being and new technology innovations; networking; and time for family activities.
