The MMA and 110 other state medical societies and national specialty organizations signed on to an AMA letter to U.S. House and Senate leaders urging them to keep moving forward on a repeal of the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula.
“Now is the time to pass a long-term solution to the fatally flawed SGR and establish a transition to a more stable Medicare physician payment policy to better serve America’s senior citizens,” the letter urges Congressional leaders.
The MMA and AMA encourage physicians to contact their Representative and Senators to urge them to support the SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act of 2014 (H.R. 4015/ S. 2000).
“For this bill to pass and the SGR to be done away with once and for all, Congress must hear from physicians now,” said Dave Renner, MMA’s director of state and federal legislation. “This is the closest we have ever been, but it is not over yet.” Physicians should email
their lawmakers and call them via the AMA’s grassroots hotline at 800-833-6354.
