Members Submit Range of Topics for Open Issues Forum

[MMA News Now, Aug. 28, 2014] Nearly 20 ideas have been submitted for consideration at the MMA’s “open issues” forum to be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 at Madden’s on Gull Lake near Brainerd as part of the Annual Conference.

The Annual Conference will feature three separate forums – one on telehealth, one on the future workforce and team-based care, and the open issues forum for which members, component medical societies and specialty societies were solicited for ideas.

Some members submitted several ideas for consideration. Some of the topics include: creating pain management standards to fight prescription opioid abuse; prohibiting tobacco sales and e-cigarettes to those under 21 years of age; providing physicians with more resources to help them understand the recent APRN legislation; and guaranteeing access to birth control. Annual Conference attendees will receive online access to all submitted issues in advance of the meeting.
