MCC Announces Upgrades and Changes

[MMA News Now, Jan. 9, 2014] The Minnesota Credentialing Collaborative (MCC) has entered the new year with important changes.

On Jan. 6, MCC rolled out a simplified process for purchasing annual subscriptions. Users are now able to purchase new provider subscriptions (often referred to as PRAC codes) from the same website link they use to update and manage provider’s records.

In addition, CredentialSmart, the vendor behind the MCC system, began enforcing a provision of its User Agreement on Jan. 6 that requires providers to keep their annual subscription current. Accounts that are not renewed within 60 days of their expiration date will be deleted.

“It’s important that users keep their subscriptions active in order to avoid the need to re-enter provider credentialing information into the system,” said Dolly Schmidt, MMC’s executive director. “We are seeing a rapid increase in our activity as Minnesota health plans are strongly encouraging providers submit applications through the MCC as it streamlines their credentialing process.”  More than 48,000 applications have now been submitted through the MCC.

MCC is a joint venture of Minnesota’s hospitals, physicians and health plans providing a community-wide solution to the repetitive process of applying for hospital and health plan credentials.
