attendees will have the opportunity to discuss how digital innovations are affecting their practices as part of several forums taking place Sept. 19 and 20 at the MMA’s annual get-together at Madden’s on Gull Lake
On Sept. 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., attendees will get the chance to act as the consulting physician during a live simulated toxicology telehealth visit. You will be able to critically examine the patient and then discuss your observations and concerns with a panel of experts.
The simulation will be conducted by Beth Bilden, M.D. of Essentia, and Zoi Hill of GPTrac. Hill also will discuss the technical and payment aspects; and Jesse Berg, J.D. of Gray, Plant, Mooty, will discuss the legal perspectives. Peter Dehnel, M.D., medical director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, will be the moderator.
On Saturday from 9:30 to noon, attendees can take part in an entire education track dedicated to “Thriving in the Digital Age.” Farris Timimi, M.D., medical director of Mayo Clinic Social Media Center, will discuss the risk and rewards of a physician’s online brand, and lead a panel discussion on the digital changes affecting medicine.
The panel will include: Steven Waisbren, M.D., who will discuss how the Minneapolis Veteran’s Administration is developing remote visits for patients; Julie Anderson, M.D., who will cover how the St. Cloud Medical Group is developing web portals for patient education and which patient apps they are finding most valuable; and Douglas Wood, M.D., who will detail how Mayo’s Center for Innovation is helping patients experience health.
