Call Now! Senate to Vote on Medicare Cut
MINNEAPOLIS, June 25, 2008 - The MMA sent out an Action Alert! Wednesday in advance of an expected Senate vote on a bill that would stop a 10.6 percent Medicare cut and include a 1.1 percent payment increase.
The MMA called upon physicians to urge Sens. Norm Coleman and Amy Klobuchar to vote in favor of H.R. 6331, which passed the House by a large majority Tuesday.
Now, the Senate is expected to consider the same bill, H.R. 6331, Thursday, June 26.
"This is our best chance to stop the cut before it goes into effect July 1," said Dave Renner, the MMA's director of state and federal legislation. "We really need doctors to hit the phones between now and then."
Call Senators Norm Coleman and Amy Klobuchar right now and urge them to allow a Senate floor vote on H.R. 6331, and to vote YES for its passage.
Use the AMA’s automated hotline at (800) 833-6354 to reach Sens. Coleman and Klobuchar.
Remember these points:
- Introduce yourself as a physician.
- Urge the Senators to allow a Senate floor vote on H.R. 6331, and to vote YES for its passage.
- Remind our Senators they said they wanted to stop the cut and now is their chance to do it.
- Tell them both Democrats and Republicans support this bill, which passed the house with a large, bipartisan majority of 355 members.
