'Cure for Claims' campaign, insurer report card kick off in Chicago

MINNEAPOLIS. June 17, 2008—On Monday, June 16, at the AMA House of Delegates meeting in Chicago, the AMA introduced its "Cure for Claims" campaign along with its National Health Insurer Report Card (NHIRC).

NPI 'drop dead' date is May 23

MINNEAPOLIS, May 20, 2008—As of May 23, Medicare FFS will require and send NPI only in all provider identifier fields for all HIPAA and paper transactions where a provider identifier is requiredIf you send Medicare a transaction with a Medicare legacy identifier in any of the provider fields, your claim will be rejected.

Old provider IDs will be refused starting May 23

MINNEAPOLIS, May 5, 2008—Beginning May 23, physicians will only be able to use their National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) when filing all electronic claims and some paper claims with Medicare and other payers.
