Two Physicians Appointed to Represent MMA in MPA Study Group
Date: 28-06-2012
[MMA News Now, June 28, 2012] MMA members Linda Van Etta, M.D., FACP, ABIM and Terry Cahill, M.D., have been appointed to represent the MMA on a working group that will examine the state’s Medical Practice Act to ensure that it “effectively protects the safety and well-being” of Minnesota citizens using an open and transparent process.
The formation of the working group is the result of the recently-passed health licensing disclosure bill.
Along with the two practicing physicians that the MMA appointed, the 15-member working group will include two current members of the Board of Medical Practice; two medical educators; two state senators; two state representatives; the commissioner of health; two consumers and two experts in the field of medical practice.
The commissioner will submit a report of the working group and legislation modifying the practice act by Jan. 1, 2013 for consideration during next year’s legislative session.
